Where do you work?
I am currently based in Devon, UK, at Hand in Hand Tattoo in Plymouth.

How do I make an appointment?
If you are interested in booking in with me, please send me an email ~ ellabelltattoo@gmail.com.

To make the booking process a little smoother and quicker, please include in your initial email some important information regarding your enquiry:

  • a description of your tattoo idea
  • a rough size, in inches or cms
  • placement (eg. arm, ribs, leg, etc)
  • the style you would like (eg. dotwork, black and grey, simple linework, colour, etc).
  • if you have any reference images please send these over too
  • and if you have any budget or time restraints, just let me know

I will then get back to you with a suggested appointment time and a rough quote of the price. Please be ready to pay a £50 deposit to secure your appointment - I cannot book you in without this! Due to the high volume of emails I receive, it can take me up to 2-3 weeks to reply, so please have patience - I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Do you do guest spots?
Yes! I hope to continue doing guest spots around the UK and beyond over the coming months and years. Please sign up to my newsletter to stay updated on all my future travel dates. I also post about all upcoming guest spots on Instagram.

Do you have any flash or pre-drawn designs I can choose from?
Yes - I have a selection of designs on my 'available projects' page. There is a wide range in size and style. This page is regularly updated with new work. All of my pre-drawn ideas are one-offs and are tattooed only once. If you're local to Plymouth, I also have a big book of designs at the studio - you are welcome to come by and have a look in person!

I'm booked in with you for a custom piece - can I see pictures of what you've drawn up before the appointment?
No, I'm sorry. I will have the design ready for when you come in; I do not send out images of the design beforehand, but rest assured on the day I always allow dedicated time at the beginning of our appointment for us to go over it together. I find this a lot more fruitful and definitely a lot faster than going back and forth via email. We can make small changes to the design and adjust the size so it fits you perfectly, and incorporate some freehand if needs be. I am very happy to spend time making sure it is right for you, and I find this part of the tattoo process is a very important and holistic way to begin.

Do you charge per hour or per piece?
I work on a project-by-project basis and charge per piece. The final price of the tattoo depends on different variables, including the level of detail, the size, style and the placement of each tattoo, which all determine how long it will take to do. I will give you a quote when you make a booking enquiry.

What kind of inks do you use/are they vegan friendly?
I use SilverBack Ink for my black and greywash, and Eternal Ink for my colour. Both are certified vegan and contain plant-based glycerin.

I really like this tattoo/drawing, can you do it for me?
I will not replicate my own tattoos, or anyone else’s. Please do not ask me to copy another tattooist or artist and instead go to them directly. However, I am happy to interpret an existing idea if I think it will suit my style, so if you’ve seen something you like just let me know, and I can use it as a starting point from which to draw up something unique for you.

How can I prepare for my appointment and what can I expect on the day?
I would recommend you stay hydrated, eat well, and try to get a good nights sleep the night before your tattoo. Please avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before getting a tattoo - being tattooed whilst you're hungover will hurt more, and it won't heal as well afterwards. You are welcome to bring snacks, water/juice etc, headphones, a book, etc etc, and one friend with you to your appointment (but if the studio is busy please note it may not be possible for your friend to sit with you whilst you get your tattoo). You do not need to arrive early to your appointment, but please be on time! The studio accepts cash payments only so please bring the correct amount with you on the day. If you are unsure about how to look after your new tattoo whilst it heals, please just ask me and I can provide you with some aftercare recommendations.

I'm booked in with you but I can no longer make my appointment - can I reschedule?
Of course! I understand sometimes things crop up or situations change, so please just let me know. If you contact me to reschedule your appointment with at least 48 hours notice, your deposit will roll over to secure your new appointment (however if you need to reschedule a second time I will require a new deposit). If you contact me to reschedule your appointment with less than 48 hours notice, you will forfeit your deposit, and I will require a new one to secure your next appointment. If you would like to completely cancel your appointment you will forfeit your deposit.

I’d like to book in with you but I live too far away… Can you design me a tattoo so I can take it to another tattooist?
I’m sorry but I only design tattoos for my customers.
