this one of a kind piece is painted with “baby” in a leafy frame on the top, a swan on one side and a butterfly on the other side, and little ornaments on the inner drawer.
there is a small blue mark on the side with the butterfly - it’s not very noticeable, and it is on the back (if you’re looking at it with “baby” facing you), however this small defect is reflected in the price.

made with stoneware clay, i build these little boxes by hand with mini slabs of clay. they are then bisque fired, and then i paint them with underglazes, before they are dipped in a transparent glaze and then fired again. it’s a slow process, and you never quite know what’s going to come out of the kiln!
i have made these to be magical heirlooms that can last many lifetimes, in which to keep your most secret and tiniest of treasures - a cherished necklace, precious seeds, a lock of hair, a tooth for the tooth fairy, a love note.
