I did this painting back in 2020, and I think it was me trying to make a picture of everything I wanted and was struggling to find during the pandemic. I was feeling isolated and disconnected, anxious and scared, and alongside this I also felt so grateful to be at home and to have time on my hands. I so badly wanted to see my friends & family, to reconnect with nature, music, magic, I wanted my inner child to feel safe, I wanted fun and joy, like we all did, and all missed. So here is what everything I wanted looked like for me, rendered in wobbly acrylic paints, and you are all cordially invited to join our sweet amphibious friends at their midnight gathering. May they remind you that you are wanted, that you bring so much to this life; that we are part of a bigger picture, that you deserve sweet things, and that we are all animals too.
