this one of a kind piece is painted with “lucky” and lots of leaves on the top, roses on each side and little leaves on the inner drawer.

made with stoneware clay, i build these little boxes by hand with mini slabs of clay. they are then bisque fired, and then i paint them with underglazes, before they are dipped in a transparent glaze and then fired again. it’s a slow process, and you never quite know what’s going to come out of the kiln!
i have made these to be magical heirlooms that can last many lifetimes, in which to keep your most secret and tiniest of treasures - a cherished necklace, precious seeds, a lock of hair, a tooth for the tooth fairy, a love note.
