A one of a kind, handmade knitted bonnet, in a lovely fuzzy mohair!
I have crafted this bonnet featuring a cornflower blue tie and a beautiful brown base.
It is soft, stretchy, lightweight and warm.
The bonnet has been finished by blocking, meaning it has had a gentle bath in order to fully soak the fibres in water. It is then dried flat (‘blocked’); this is an important step in finishing handmade knitwear, as it sets the final size and shape of the item, enhances stitch definition, and ensures the yarn maintains its structure over time.
For future reference you can hand wash this bonnet in lukewarm/cool water, using a wool wash or delicates laundry liquid, then re-shape whilst damp and dry flat.
Yarn composition and details:
77% mohair, 18% wool and 5% polyamide.
The yarn is Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified.
The mohair originates from farms in South Africa which are certified to strict animal welfare standards and comply with the Responsible Mohair Standard. The RMS verifies mohair animal welfare and land management requirements, and tracks it from farm to final product. The wool is 100% mulesing free and is sourced from South America. The polyamide is sourced from the EU and adds some durability to the yarn.
