These beautiful papers have been made by independent artist Lauren Ink. She makes all her papers by hand in the UK, from 50% recycled cotton rag and 50% lokta handmade paper. This paper is botanically dyed by hand and each sheet is formed using a mould and deckle, giving it a naturally feathery deckled edge. Because of the handmade nature of this paper, there will be some very slight variations in weight, colour and size.

I have hand printed these lino prints from a lino cut. I use a roller to apply ink evenly across the lino cut - each sheet of paper is then individually pressed and burnished onto the lino block to make the print. The process is repeated for each print, and as such, they areal unique with slight variations and imperfections.

I have used a traditional, light-fast linseed-oil based relief ink in a metallic gold.

Charity Information:

Eden Reforestation Projects plant trees globally, in areas that really need it, working with local villages and communities to restore forests with native tree species. So far I believe they are planting trees in Nepal, Madagascar, Haiti, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, Honduras and Nicaragua. They provide people with training and a stable income, which can help lift communities out of poverty; and in doing so, they plant the landscape with native trees.

We know that deforestation has a heartbreaking impact on our earth. When native forests are chopped down, not only do we destroy the habitat of native wildlife, but it causes disasters such as erosion, flooding and desertification, which turn a once fertile land into a completely inhospitable environment for humans, plants and animals alike. Reforestation is one of the most important things we can do to help the human and animal populations on earth as well as our environment.

Once the trees have been planted, Eden Reforestation Projects continue to employ local people to protect and monitor the young forests over time, generating long-term employment and ensuring the tree’s health and perpetuity. As the reforestation effort goes on, healthy native forests being to emerge, attracting native wildlife back to the area; weather cycles return to their natural patterns; the health of the soil improves, yielding better crops, and protection against erosion, flooding and desertification; this encourages local farms, communities and economies to stabilise and grow, and people are lifted out of extreme poverty. The operation has an all round positive socio-economic and environmental impact.
